1748  Up the Rivers and Lakes, they have . . . two very delicious kinds of Fish; the one called by the French, White Fish, but by the Indians and English, Titymagg; the other . . . Muthoy.
1749  (1963)  The bottom is covered with fine muscles, and sea-eggs, and clamms . . . and other shell-fish, which allures those shoals of fish . . . salmon, titimegg, and lake fish, which abounds in every place within the gulph.
1823  The Cree name of this fish is attihhawmegh, which is corrupted into tittameg by the traders. The Canadian voyagers term it poisson blanc.
1905  (1954)  There is an excellent food fish in the lakes of that region--the white fish ("titimeg" or "atikameg," as the Crees called it) which averages about 1 1/2 pounds in weight.
